Chrissy

" ... an
absolutely wonderful dog! She is very loving and will make her family
very happy. Even though she has special sensitivities, she will be worth
it for the right family!" - foster mom
Chrissy
is very
calm, loving, and intelligent. She has brains almost as big as her
heart! She is completely housebroken; respects belongings by not
chewing; and is patient when going outside for potty breaks or
playtime without pulling on her leash or knocking you down.
Chrissy
is a very quiet
soul most of the time. She doesn't whine at night, even in unusual
surroundings. She loves cats and can live very harmoniously with them!
Although she at one time enjoyed 'hugs', many people may not approve
of this, so she learned not to jump up, in just a short amount of
time! She will sit politely and wait for petting from all of her
friends.
The
most wonderful thing about
Chrissy
is her love for
humans. She wants affection and companionship. She is nervous of new
things but gains trust easily with treats, and can be trained to do
amazing things with a bit of hard work and positive enforcement from
her new family.
We have no
way of knowing
Chrissy's
previous life, but she is reluctant to try new things unless she is
taught they are no threat with treats and training. It takes her time
to accept strangers. She will be quiet for a few moments and then bark
with some fear but absolutely NO AGGRESSION. But she will learn to
trust, as she is friends with all the employees and many of the
volunteers at the adoption center. She is not necessarily a
'one-person dog'; anyone who is kind to her will win her heart. Also,
the car is troublesome for her, probably form lack of exposure. Some
short, frequent, positive car rides that lead to fun adventures should
help her overcome this fear. On walks, she is fearful of dogs and
manifests this by pulling and wanting to run after them - and
squirrels too! Lots of dogs have this issue (you probably know many)
so her walks should be in pleasant places without a lot of other
animals, and always be sure to have treats in case!
Ultimately,
Chrissy
needs:
• A family willing to work with her and train her
• A fenced yard to run in or frequent leash walks (no invisible
fences)
• A calm indoor space without a view to outside (so she doesn't get
fearful of something outside during the day)
• Lots of human contact & companionship
• A stable & consistent environment and routine
• No apartments or city dwellings with a lot of noise
• No families with young children
